Please contact us for upcoming course dates.
The Intermediate Scaffolding Course is suitable for those personnel who hold a basic scaffolding licence and are seeking to upgrade to an intermediate scaffolding licence.
While basic scaffolding licences only allow workers to carry out limited scaffolding scaffolding work (e.g with prefabricated or modular scaffold equipment), an intermediate scaffolding qualification allows workers to erect, alter and dismantle a range of scaffolds including cantilevered and spurred scaffolds, sloping platforms, perimeter screens, mast climbers, etc.
Topics covered in this course include:
- Planning work, including identifying and controlling risks.
- Working safely at heights.
- Select and inspect scaffolds and associated equipment.
- Erecting, altering and dismantling a variety of scaffolds.
This course may include some or all of the following delivery modes: classroom, online/eLearning, workplace or blended options.
Assessment is conducted using the mandated assessment tool set by the Regulator, which requires a reasonable command of English and basic numeracy skills.
To be eligible to complete this recertification course, you must hold a basic scaffolding qualification.
Assessment activities must all be conducted whilst communicating in English, and interpreters are not allowed to be used. Students require a reasonable command of English and basic numeracy skills to complete the government-mandated assessment tool for this course. Only minor adjustments for personal or workplace reasons are allowed.
Hearing impaired persons may use sign language to communicate via an interpreter (only when approved by the Regulator).
The course may involve some manual handling, climbing, lifting, carrying, and height work. It must be clearly understood that some disabilities may preclude a student from participating safely, and this may restrict entry to the course. For details and alternatives, please refer to AITAC administrator for advice.
While we will make every effort to cater to the specific needs of students, decisions relating to safety are not subject to negotiation.
This course may involve working in a warehouse, construction or outdoor environment, and performing High Risk Work. Students are therefore required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during training.
When attending the course, students must bring/wear:
- Fully enclosed shoes or boots (steel-capped safety shoes recommended)
- Drill shirt and pants (full cover – ankle to wrist)
We will provide hi-vis vests, books, pens, tools and other resources needed for the course.
Students who do not have the appropriate PPE will not be permitted to participate in the practical component of the course and may have to be rescheduled at another available time. This may incur additional fees (please refer to the Student Handbook for specific fee details).
Training which takes place in the workplace under supervision may require different or additional PPE dependent upon the site rules and procedures. If this is the case, requirements should be discussed with your employer/supervisor.
The duration of this course is 5 days. Study may also include pre-course learning activities.
The course is delivered at 9 Snyder Crt, Tullamarine VIC, or can be delivered at other suitable workplaces by arrangement.
On successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment with the relevant Units of Competency.
You will be able to apply for a nationally recognised High Risk Work Licence from a state regulator. During this process, you will be required to pay an additional government licensing fee of $50 – $100.
The standard price for this course is $1200.00
