At AITAC and Your Licence we want our training and assessment to be conducted in a way that encourages all of our learners to participate and successfully complete their training.

Recently we had the opportunity to talk to Emma at our training facility in Tullamarine, Melbourne.

We asked Emma about her decision to be trained and assessed for a Forklift Licence and what she thought about career opportunities for women with this qualification.

Emma is a young woman currently employed in a completely unrelated field to Warehousing and Distribution. Flexible hours, an attractive salary and the manual labour elements of the job, are what initially encouraged her to take the leap away from her office based job and change career. She arrived for her two intensive days of training with no previous experience driving a forklift.

“Driving the forklifts on the course was the most enjoyable part to me” said Emma. “I learn things best when I can practice on the job so this course was really good for me in that respect.”

She went on to tell us “The trainer was really helpful and explained everything fully so it was easy to understand.”

We also asked Emma if she thought this was a good career choice for women “Yes of course! With flexible working hours, good pay and manual work to help keep active it’s a great choice for women. Women like manual jobs too” she said. “Having a forklift driving licence will really help when I’m applying for jobs” Emma added.

Emma successfully completed her training and assessment and obtained her Licence to drive a Forklift. We wish her every success in her career in warehousing and distribution and hope Emma’s story encourages more women to consider Forklift driving for employment opportunities.

From January 2015, Australians undertaking vocational education and training will be able to build and access a complete online record of their results using a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

GET YOUR UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER HERE!.

The USI initiative gives students easy access to a secure digital transcript of all completed training units and qualifications by linking details of their VET achievements in a single online account, regardless of where they studied.

What is the Unique Student Identifier (USI)?
A Unique Student Identifier is a unique reference that will enable you to access your training records and results online anytime from your computer, tablet or smartphone. Your USI is yours for life.

Who needs a USI?
From January 2015 any student undertaking national recognised training will need to have a Unique Student Identifier. Each time you enrol with a new training provider your USI will be required so they can make sure your training records are added to your account. When you complete your training with Your Licence after the inception date, you will be required to provide your USI to us at the enrolment or assignment submission stages.

What are the benefits of having a USI?
Your USI will make it easier for you to view, send and print out a complete transcript of your training records and achievements which will be useful when applying for a job, demonstrating pre-requisites for further training or applying for training credit or recognition of prior learning. No more lost qualifications!

How do I get a USI?
You can apply for your own USI in the USI registry, or your training provider may be able to apply for a USI on your behalf. Click here to find out how to get your USI online today.
